Back Nine Golf Could Bring Indoor Golf Simulators to La Porte

by Katie Day

Golfers in La Porte and the greater Bay Area may soon have a new place to work on their swing, play a virtual round, or spend time with friends without having to hit the course.

A project registered with the state shows that Back Nine Golf may be bringing its indoor golf simulator concept to La Porte. The proposed project is planned for 3525 Canada Road, where a roughly 2,060-square-foot build-out is listed.

According to the project information, construction is expected to begin in November, with the build-out scheduled to wrap up in February.

What Is Planned for La Porte?

The project would bring Back Nine Golf's indoor simulator concept to the area, giving local golfers another option for practicing and playing in an indoor setting.

Golf simulators have become increasingly popular because they allow players to experience virtual versions of courses while using technology to track elements of their swing and ball flight. They're also an appealing option when the weather isn't cooperating—or when you simply don't have time for a full 18 holes.

For La Porte residents, a local indoor golf concept could mean having another recreational option closer to home rather than driving elsewhere in the Houston area.

A New Option for Bay Area Golfers

La Porte has seen continued growth and development, and additions like this can provide residents with more opportunities for entertainment and recreation close to home.

An indoor golf facility could appeal to a range of players, from experienced golfers looking to practice to beginners who want to try the sport in a more casual environment. It could also provide a different kind of social destination for groups, friends and families.

That said, the project is based on state-registered construction information, so plans and timelines can change before a project is completed. A construction registration should not necessarily be interpreted as a confirmed opening date.

Would You Use an Indoor Golf Simulator in La Porte?

For Bay Area residents, the bigger question may be whether there's enough local interest to make an indoor golf concept a regular destination.
