Bam Kazam Brings a New Adventure Arcade to Washington Avenue
A familiar space on Washington Avenue has a new tenant.
The former Railway Heights space is now home to Bam Kazam, an adventure arcade that combines escape-room-style challenges, obstacle courses, and arcade games into one interactive experience.
The Houston attraction opened in mid-September, giving locals another option for an active night out, group activity, or something different to do with friends.
What Is Bam Kazam?
Bam Kazam is designed less like a traditional arcade and more like a giant indoor challenge course.
Visitors can take on escape rooms, obstacle courses, and 24 levels of arcade-style challenges, with each activity offering its own test of speed, coordination, problem-solving, or teamwork.
The setup makes it particularly suited to groups. Instead of simply watching someone else play, everyone can get involved and compete, retry challenges, and work through the different activities together.
How Much Does It Cost?
The experience costs $39 per person and includes a two-hour window with unlimited retries.
That unlimited-retry element is worth noting if you're competitive — you don't have to walk away after one failed attempt. You can keep going back and try to improve your score or finally conquer a challenge that got the better of you the first time.
For Houston groups looking for something beyond the usual dinner-and-drinks outing, that makes Bam Kazam an option worth knowing about.
A New Use for the Railway Heights Space
Bam Kazam also represents the latest change for the former Railway Heights space along Washington Avenue.
The location had previously been associated with Railway Heights Market, which brought food, drinks, entertainment, and events to the area. With Bam Kazam now occupying the space, the property continues its evolution as part of the activity and entertainment scene along Washington Avenue.
For Houstonians who haven't been by recently, it's another reason to keep an eye on what's changing along this part of the city.
Who Should Try It?
Bam Kazam is geared toward people who enjoy interactive experiences rather than passive entertainment.
It's a natural fit for:
-
Friends looking for a new weekend activity
-
Families looking for something active to do together
-
Birthday and group outings
-
Date nights that involve a little friendly competition
-
Anyone who enjoys escape rooms, obstacle courses, or arcade games
And because you can retry the challenges during your two-hour session, there's plenty of opportunity to turn a casual visit into some friendly competition.
So if you've been wondering what moved into the old Railway Heights space on Washington Avenue, now you know: Bam Kazam has arrived, bringing a new adventure-focused entertainment option to Houston.
Bring your crew, come ready to compete, and expect to try a few challenges more than once.
