Fuzzy’s Taco Shop Has Closed All Three Houston-Area Locations

Houston-area fans of Fuzzy’s Taco Shop have officially lost another taco option.

All three Fuzzy’s Taco Shop locations in the Houston area have closed permanently, marking the end of the brand’s presence in the Houston market.

The locations in Katy, Kingwood and Sugar Land all shut down, leaving no Fuzzy’s Taco Shop restaurants remaining in the Houston area.

The closure comes just eight months after the Katy location reopened under a new concept called Fuzzy’s Tacos and Margs.

Fuzzy’s Is Now Out of Houston

For Houston-area customers, the closures mean Fuzzy’s is no longer an option for tacos, burritos, margaritas and the brand’s other menu favorites.

The three Houston-area restaurants had served customers in different parts of the metro, from Katy in the west to Kingwood in the northeast and Sugar Land in Fort Bend County.

Now, all three are gone.

While the Houston locations have closed, Fuzzy’s still has a significant presence elsewhere in Texas. The brand continues to operate more than 40 locations in North Texas, according to the information surrounding the closures.

So while Houston is losing Fuzzy’s, the brand itself isn't disappearing.

The Katy Location Had Just Been Reworked

The timing is particularly notable for the Katy location.

Just eight months ago, the restaurant reopened under a new concept called Fuzzy’s Tacos and Margs, giving the location a fresh identity and a new attempt at attracting customers.

That concept ultimately had a short run.

The closure means the Katy restaurant went from reopening under the new format to shutting down permanently in less than a year.

For customers who had only recently returned to the restaurant, the closure may come as an especially quick change.

What Happens to the Locations Next?

With all three restaurants now closed, the next question for many Houston residents will be what replaces them.

The former Fuzzy’s spaces in Katy, Kingwood and Sugar Land could eventually become home to new restaurants or other businesses, but no replacement concepts have been announced as part of the closure.

For now, those spaces are another reminder of just how quickly Houston's restaurant landscape can change.

A restaurant can open, rebrand, change concepts and close — sometimes all within a surprisingly short period.

What Will Houston Taco Fans Choose Next?

Fuzzy’s may be gone from Houston, but tacos certainly aren't going anywhere.

The Houston area has no shortage of taquerias, Tex-Mex restaurants and independent taco spots, giving former Fuzzy’s customers plenty of alternatives.

For regulars, though, there's always something different about losing a familiar neighborhood restaurant — especially one that had become part of a regular lunch, dinner or margarita routine.
