Himari Sushi Is Opening a Second Houston Location in Briargrove
Briargrove is getting a new sushi spot.
Himari Sushi is planning a second Houston location in Briargrove, bringing its Japanese restaurant concept to a converted bank building on San Felipe. The new restaurant is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
The project comes from Duckstache Hospitality and will be the hospitality group’s largest Himari location to date, with seating for approximately 110 guests.
A New Japanese Restaurant Is Coming to San Felipe
The upcoming Himari Sushi will occupy a converted bank building, giving the restaurant a distinctive starting point for its new Briargrove home.
For nearby residents, the location could add another option for sushi, Japanese dining and casual meals along the San Felipe corridor.
The restaurant is planned with several different dining experiences under one roof, including a dedicated sushi bar, robata and donburi bowls.
What to Expect at the New Himari Sushi
The 110-seat restaurant is expected to include a 15-seat sushi bar, where guests can watch the sushi team at work.
The menu will also feature robata, the Japanese style of grilling food over charcoal, along with donburi bowls for a more casual dining option.
A private event space is also planned, giving the restaurant the flexibility to accommodate everything from celebrations to private gatherings.
With its larger footprint and mix of dining options, the Briargrove restaurant will be the biggest Himari location in the Duckstache Hospitality portfolio so far.
When Will Himari Sushi Open?
The new Briargrove location is currently expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
That timeline could change as construction and the restaurant build-out progress, but the project gives Houston sushi fans another opening to watch as development continues along San Felipe.
For Briargrove residents, the question now is simple: Are you excited to have a new sushi restaurant coming to the neighborhood?
