The Houston Texans Just Unveiled Their Most Houston Uniform Yet

by Katie Day

The Houston Texans have a new look — and if you know Houston, you’ll recognize the inspiration immediately.

The team has unveiled its HOUSTON/US Rivalries uniform, a new alternate uniform created in partnership with Nike as part of the NFL's Rivalries program. And unlike a typical alternate jersey, this one is packed with details pulled directly from Houston's streets, neighborhoods and culture.

From the iconic “Be Someone” bridge to Houston's blue-and-white street tiles and custom car culture, the new uniform is essentially H-Town turned into a football uniform.

The Texans will debut the look during Week 11 on Thursday Night Football, when Houston hosts the Indianapolis Colts on November 19, 2026.

A Uniform Built Around Houston

The Texans say the HOUSTON/US uniform was designed to tell a local story, and the details go well beyond simply putting “Houston” across the chest.

The color palette features Liberty White, H-Town Blue and Battle Red, while several elements pay homage to recognizable pieces of Houston culture.

The jersey numbers, for example, take inspiration from the lettering on the city's famous “Be Someone” bridge. The chrome-finished H-Town Blue numbers use a stenciled block font modeled after the bridge's unmistakable lettering.

Houston's blue-and-white street tiles also make an appearance throughout the uniform, including the nameplate and striping.

It's a design that should look familiar to anyone who has spent time driving around Houston.

The Texans' First-Ever White Helmet

Perhaps the biggest change is sitting right on top of the players' heads.

The HOUSTON/US uniform introduces the Texans' first-ever Liberty White helmet.

The white helmet is more than just a new color choice. It pays tribute to the original helmet prototype displayed by late Texans founder Robert C. McNair in 1999, before the franchise ultimately adopted its Deep Steel Blue helmet.

The helmet also incorporates Houston's blue-and-white street-tile motif, with “H-Town” featured on the front bumper and “Texans” on the back.

And then there's the facemask.

Yes, the Facemask Is Chrome

Houston's car culture gets its own nod with a chrome H-Town Blue facemask.

It's one of those details that might seem small at first, but it fits the overall concept of the uniform: Houston isn't being represented by one symbol or neighborhood. The design pulls together different pieces of the city's identity.

The Texans describe the uniform as representing the 8 million people who call Houston home.

Even the Small Details Have a Houston Connection

The local references continue throughout the uniform.

The Bullhead logo appears over the heart of the jersey in an all-white colorway with H-Town Blue and Battle Red accents — a first for the franchise.

Inside the collar, a Battle Red “Houston” wordmark uses the distinctive “Be Someone” bridge font, with “Us” highlighted in H-Town Blue.

The message behind the design is essentially right there in the name: HOUSTON/US.

It's intended to connect the team to the city and the people who make Houston what it is.

When Will the Texans Wear the New Uniform?

Houston will debut the HOUSTON/US uniform in Week 11, when the Texans host the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday, November 19, 2026, in a nationally televised Thursday Night Football matchup.

The game gives the Texans a fitting stage for the debut, with the new uniforms arriving during a primetime AFC South rivalry matchup.

Fans attending the game are also being encouraged to wear H-Town Blue.

HOUSTON/US Merchandise Is Now Available

If you want to wear the new look before the players take the field, you're in luck.

HOUSTON/US Rivalries merchandise went on sale September 1, including jerseys and other fan gear. The collection is available through the Texans' official team shop and other authorized retailers.

Several player jerseys are already available in the new design, including options featuring C.J. Stroud, Will Anderson Jr. and Derek Stingley Jr.

Is This the Most Houston Texans Uniform Ever?

That's up to Houston.

But it's hard to argue that the team didn't put the city's personality into this one.

The white helmet, chrome facemask, street-tile patterns and “Be Someone” lettering aren't random design choices. They're references that Houston fans can actually recognize.

And that's what makes the HOUSTON/US uniform different from simply releasing another alternate jersey.

It's a uniform designed to say Houston without having to explain what Houston means.

Now the question is: Are you getting one?
