Raise a Glass: Texas Cocktail Week Is Shaking Things Up in Houston

by Katie Day

Houston, get ready to toast something brand new. This year marks the launch of the very first Texas Cocktail Week, and our city is taking center stage. From Montrose cocktail dens to Midtown classics, more than 25 Houston bars and restaurants are joining forces to celebrate the art of the drink — all while supporting local charities.

How It Works

The concept is simple (and brilliant): For just $20, you can purchase a Cocktail Passport that unlocks $7.13 specialty cocktails at participating spots across the city. Think of it as your golden ticket to explore Houston’s best mixology talent — without breaking the bank.

Participating bars include heavy hitters like:

  • Julep, Alba Huerta’s James Beard Award–winning cocktail haven
  • Hugo’s, the Montrose favorite blending fine dining with killer margaritas
  • Plus dozens of neighborhood gems across the Inner Loop and beyond

Beyond the Bar

Texas Cocktail Week isn’t just about sipping. The weeklong celebration will also feature:

  • Guest bartender takeovers with talent from around the state and beyond
  • Pop-ups and tastings highlighting spirits brands and new flavors
  • Educational panels where cocktail pros share their secrets
  • Community events where Houstonians can connect over their shared love of craft drinks

It’s part festival, part citywide bar crawl, and part learning experience — with every pour supporting a charitable cause.

Key Dates to Know

August 24 → Full schedule of events drops
September 1 → Cocktail Passports go on sale
Soon after → The city starts shaking, stirring, and toasting its way into history with the inaugural Texas Cocktail Week

As Houston’s dining scene continues to gain national attention, the addition of Texas Cocktail Week feels like a natural next step. It’s a chance to highlight the creativity of our bartenders, shine a light on locally owned businesses, and remind the rest of the state that when it comes to food and drink culture, Houston knows how to lead.

So — who’s grabbing their passport and raising a glass?
