Where Are New Homes Selling in Greater Houston? The Communities Leading July 2026

by Katie Day

If you're keeping an eye on the Greater Houston housing market, one question is especially useful: Where are buyers actually purchasing new construction homes?

New-home construction continues to shape the Houston region, with large master-planned communities and growing suburbs attracting buyers looking for newer homes, modern amenities and more space.

To get a closer look at where that demand is concentrated, we reviewed Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) data for single-family new-construction home sales from July 1 through July 31, 2026.

The data highlights the subdivisions that recorded the most new-construction single-family home sales during the month.

Which Houston-Area Communities Had the Most New-Home Sales?

July's sales activity provides a snapshot of which subdivisions were attracting the most buyers across the Greater Houston area.

For homebuyers, these numbers can offer a useful starting point when exploring the new-construction market. Communities with higher sales volumes are seeing significant buyer activity, although sales volume alone doesn't tell the entire story.

Factors such as home prices, available inventory, builder incentives, lot sizes, amenities, commute times and interest rates can all influence where buyers ultimately choose to purchase.

Houston's new-home market also extends well beyond the city limits. Growing communities in the suburbs and outer areas of the metro continue to offer buyers alternatives to established neighborhoods closer to the urban core.

Why New Construction Continues to Matter in Houston

New construction plays a major role in Houston's housing market because the region has room to grow.

For buyers, a newly built home can offer features that may be harder to find in older properties, including modern floor plans, updated energy-efficiency standards and new appliances and finishes. Many new-home communities also offer amenities such as pools, trails, parks and recreation facilities.

For developers and builders, strong sales activity in a subdivision can be an important indicator of where demand is developing.

That makes monthly new-construction sales data worth watching—not just for people shopping for a home, but for anyone interested in where Houston is growing.

What July's Numbers Tell Us

The subdivisions with the highest number of new-construction sales in July give us a glimpse into where buyers were most active during the month.

It's important to remember that sales volume isn't the same as appreciation or overall market performance. A community can have a high number of sales simply because it has a large number of homes available or is actively releasing new inventory.

Still, tracking these numbers month after month can reveal larger trends and help show which parts of the Houston metro are attracting the most new-home buyers.

Thinking About Buying a New Home in Houston?

If you're considering a new construction home, looking at recent sales activity is just one piece of the puzzle.

You'll also want to compare builders, incentives, property taxes, homeowners association fees, commute times, school options, amenities and the amount of inventory currently available.

And because the Houston market can vary significantly from one community to another, local data can be much more useful than broad metro-wide statistics.
